7th Annual Kids Day

May 10, 2015 Kids Day 0

Calhoun County students were treated to a day of aviation at the annual Kids Day at Calhoun Air Center.

Friday’s event hosted 350 sixth graders from Seadrift School, Travis Middle School and Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School. The event, has brought in 2,100 students for Kids Day since it began in 2009.

Students were educated in the differences between an airplane and helicopter, emergency air flights, fuel management, aerodynamics, wind components, wind velocity and aircraft parts.

“It’s amazing to see our local aviation community come together to show the students how great aviation can be,” said Steve Plunkett, field base operations manager. “We all look forward to this day each year.”
